Punjab govt forcing transporters to cancel booking of buses for Khatkar Kalan rally, alleges Manpreet Badal

CHANDIGARH: Former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal who is going to launch new political aprty at Khatkar Kalan on Sunday alleged here Saturday that Punjab Government has geared up all its machinery to scuttle his rally. He said that Police and Transport authorities have threatened action against bus operators if buses, already booked, were sent for the rally.
Addressing a Press Conference here at Press Club, Manpreet Badal directly blamed his cousin SAD president and Deputry Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for using extra constitutional means to browbeat the transporters. He alleged that it was being done with the consent of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. He said that transporters in all the districts were told not to send buses for the rally.
Manpreet Badal said that it was misconception in the mind of Sukhbir Badal that by using force he would stop the people from reaching Khatkar Kalan. He said that despite restrictions, lakhs of his supporters would reach Khatkar Kalan to pay homage to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Manpreet said that he salute the spirit of Shaheed Bhagat Singh who fought against Britishers. He said that “these” Manpreet Badal addressing Press Conference at Chandigarh Press Club(Badals) are the new avtaar of “Angrej” (Britishers) who are using same tactics.
The rebel Akali leader who resigned from Vidhan Sabha on Saturday also said that on Friday the Nawanshehar police forced the farmers to release water into their fields at the venue of the rally. He alleged that generator sets and diesel was provided by the police. He said that he talked to Nawanshehar SSP who told him that he was not aware if he(Manpreet) was holdiong any rally at Khatkar Kalan on Sunday. He said that he also tried to contact Chief Secretary who didn’t pick up his phone. He also called Chief Secretary in vain in the presence of media persons.
Giving details Manpreet Badal said that Ashwani Kumar DTO Ludhiana and his gunman Sukhwinder Singh have threatened owners of Cheema Bus Service and Dashmesh Bus service who cancelled the booking of 50 buses. In Sangrur DTO I.S.Thind forced Chawla Bus Service to cancel booking of 25 buses. DTO Mansa Nachhatar Singh Brar got cancelled booking of 65 buses in Mansa and Budhlada, a
CID officer Sampuran Singh visited the permises of Harvinder Sharma owner of Puneet Bus Service and threatened to boook him in false case if buses were given for the rally. Similarly the DTO of Patiala threatened Shiv Motors and Khatra Bus Service, Jalandhar DTO got cancelled booking of 25 buses of Onkar Bus Service, DTO Hoshiarpur got cancelled 15 buses of New Punjab Bus Service, RTA Patiala threatened Gagrg Bus Service, Jugal Bus service and Kamal Bus service owners.
Manpreet Badal urged the media to take notice of ruling aprty action of misuse of official machinery to supress the opposition. He said that people shall rise to the occassion and teach a lesson to the political aprties indulging in such cheap and unlawful tacticts. He said that Punjab government was going on the track of Pakistan government which had denegrated all the constitutional institutions.Punjab is not better than Pakistan, he added.
